Home Remodeling for a Nursery, Part II
December 4th, 2008 by Home ProThe first decision is naturally which room in your home makes the most sense for your baby’s nursery. The nursery should be easily accessible and near enough for all the family members to attend to the baby’s needs
The first thing you are likely to need is a crib, so while remodeling the room, enough space should be assigned for the crib to be in a prominent spot in the room away from window, drafts and air vents.
Baby beds and cribs are usually one of your primary expenses when furnishing your nursery, so choose wisely. Today one great option is to choose a baby bed that can be transformed in a few years as your child is ready by removing the sides to become a regular bed.
Choose bright colors that will attract you baby’s attention and provide a happy environment for everyone who enters the room.
Select carpet and padding that will be resilient and provide a layer of safety if the baby should fall.
Lighting is an important factor in the nursery.
Choose lighting that can be adjusted for various times of the day and night. And consider adding curtains for an extra layer of protection from harsh sunlight and cold air when the temperature changes.
Your baby’s comfort and safety are of prime importance when you’re remodeling your nursery, but style is always important too so you and your baby will enjoy this very special time in your life. Spending time in your baby’s well-designed and decorated nursery will be a pleasure you will cherish forever.

Your mention of lighting brings up a really good point. The crib should not be located right next to a window that receives direct sunlight because you could inadvertently expose your baby’s delicate skin to harmful ultraviolet rays! Indirect sun is the best for this type of situation.
